1. Preface
You're receiving this email because you purchased a product from Rogue Amoeba http://rogueamoeba.com/ in the past.

If you don't want to be on this mailing list, just click the link at the bottom of this email to remove yourself, and accept our humble apologies for taking your time! Once removed, you won't receive any further newsletters from us.

Introduction

I'm your host Paul Kafasis, the CEO/Lackey here at Rogue Amoeba. For many of you, this is the second newsletter in as many weeks. Don't worry! We're not planning to email any more often than we always have (2-4 times a year). We just happened to have a lot of good information to share in a short period of time. Let's get to it!

2. The Indie Mac Gift Pack

You may already know Radioshift, our tool for listening to and recording Internet radio. With Radioshift, you can search through the built-in guide of over 100,000 listings to find radio content from all around the globe. Tune in immediately or schedule a recording of your favorite program with just a single click to listen later. You can learn more right here:

If you haven't yet purchased Radioshift, there's no time like the present, because Radioshift is part of the Indie Mac Gift Pack. The what? Why, the Indie Mac Gift Pack:

http://indiemacgiftpack.com/?RA

The Indie Mac Gift Pack is a great collection of software, brought together for a limited time to sell at a great price. Through the end of 2010, you can purchase almost $300 worth of great Mac software for just $60.

We've never been interested in software bundles featuring middlemen and cutthroat prices, but this deal works a bit differently. All six developers involved came together to make the bundle, and we're splitting the revenue evenly. Everybody wins - you get six great applications at a great price, and we attract new users while still earning a modest amount with each sale.

We hope you'll check out the Indie Mac Gift Pack. The holidays may be behind us, but it's still a great gift for someone else or even for yourself. Don't wait, though, as the deal ends when the new year starts.

3. Bongiovi's Digital Power Station Plugin for iTunes

If you're a longtime reader of our newsletter, you may remember that we've helped other companies get their audio effects into iTunes, in the form of plugins. The first audio plugin for iTunes, Volume Logic, is sadly retired, but iWOW from SRS Labs is still going strong. In 2010, we provided technology to help Bongiovi create their Digital Power Station for iTunes.

The idea behind Bongiovi's Digital Power Station (DPS) is to make your Mac's small speakers sound much better. The company did testing on specific Mac models, so there are likely configurations geared toward your exact setup. The improvement is impressive, and worth hearing.

As part of our licensing for the technology we provide to bring these plugins into iTunes, we always try to arrange an exclusive discount just for our customers - that's you! We've done that again, and you can save $5 off Bongiovi's DPS plugin for iTunes. Visit Bongiovi's website to download the trial and hear how good your speakers can sound, then purchase right online.

Try out Bongiovi's DPS here: www.dpsplugin.com

If you like it, you can purchase the plugin via www.dpsplugin.com, and save $5 off the purchase with coupon code AMOEBA.

To be clear, the Digital Power Station plugin is a Bongiovi product. So, if you have questions, be sure to direct them to Bongiovi!

4. Rogue Amoeba Savings for the Holidays

We've got one final item in the discounts department. This is a coupon we mentioned in our newsletter last week, but we thought we'd reiterate. You can save 15% off any regularly-priced software (sorry, the Airfoil 4 upgrade is not included) from Rogue Amoeba! Try out any of our software now, and if you like it, purchase before 2011 to save 15%!

To save, just click the "Have a Coupon?" during checkout, and enter coupon code HAPPYHOLIDAYS2010 to save!

If you already have what you need, thanks for your past purchases! We'd be honored if you'd pass along the coupon, and a good word, to your friends.

5. 2010: The Year That Was

After a busy end to 2009, where we released Radioshift 1.5 on the 364th day of the year, 2010 started a bit more slowly. January and February were largely consumed with planning for and then exhibiting at Macworld in San Francisco.

The show was a great one, despite Apple's absence, and we were thrilled to see so many old friends and meet so many new ones. If you made it to our booth, thanks for stopping by! Rogue Amoeba won't be there in 2011 (we've always exhibited every other year), but it promises to be another great show.

In March, we hired our newest programmer, David Dunham. David set to work on Pulsar, which would see a major update just three months later.

In May, we had a pleasant surprise. Years back, we learned that 2/3 of Spinal Tap were users of Audio Hijack Pro. The hidden easter egg in the very first Audio Hijack Pro was the "These go to 11" sound clip, so this was very cool to us.

On a whim, I checked to see if Michael McKean had ever learned of our software. Sure enough, he had! So now, we can advertise Audio Hijack Pro as simply "Used by Spinal Tap"!

Things picked up in the summer. In June, World Cup fever overtook the world. Audio Hijack Pro found a way to help soccer fans, by quieting the relentless sound of vuvuzelas heard during broadcasts!

The end of June saw the release of Pulsar 2. Pulsar is our tool for listening to SIRIUS and XM online streaming radio, and version 2 brought some great new features, including the ability to pause live radio. If you have a SIRIUS or XM account, you should definitely check out Pulsar - if you own a current version of any of our Mac software, you can get Pulsar for free!

In July, we brought on our tenth employee, Chris Barajas. Chris has handled most of our support email since then, and he's been a great addition. If you've emailed for help, Chris has probably been the one to get you squared away.

August brought another big update to Radioshift. Version 1.6 brought support for AAC audio streams, which means hundreds of new stations are now supported.

In September, we celebrated eight years of Rogue Amoeba, while also showing our appreciation to Mike Ash, our longest-tenured employee. For the occasion, we presented Mike with a personalized SSD hard drive, engraved with a note of thanks.

We updated Airfoil for Windows in November. Version 2.8 brought needed improvements to pulling audio from web browsers, fixing problems which had recently cropped up. Airfoil for Windows remains our only Windows software, but it's grown to be one of our most popular products!

Finally, December brought the release of Airfoil 4. This had been in the works for quite awhile, and we were elated to finally release it. It's been met with warm reviews from all over the web.

Of course, we're always working here at Rogue Amoeba. Read on for more!

6. What's Coming in 2011

If you've read these newsletters before, you know we rarely announce products and updates before they're actually available. We prefer to let our work do the talking, and we never want to promise something we can't deliver. That said, we can certainly offer a glimpse at what we're planning for 2011. All of our applications will receive small updates and bug fixes, but these are the major updates we're working on currently:

With the release of Airfoil 4, we've gotten a heap of great feedback. We don't have big plans for more Airfoil development yet, but we hope to release a big update to Airfoil Speakers Touch in 2011, to make listening from your iOS device better than ever. We'll also likely have some small but useful improvements based on feedback from version 4.

In addition, we're currently investigating AirPlay for video, the protocol Apple uses to send video from iTunes to the Apple TV. We'll see just what happens here, but we hope to do for video what Airfoil did for audio - send any video from your Mac to the Apple TV, not just what iTunes will play. We're very excited about the possibilities here, but things are in a VERY early stage, so give us time!

We've also got two very big updates in the works, for Nicecast and Audio Hijack Pro. The new version of Nicecast is still in the early planning stages, but we hope to release it by the end of 2011. The banner feature will be the ability to send out multiple streams - for low and high bitrate, say, or MP3 and AAC streams.

As for Audio Hijack Pro, we've got a great new interface design in the works, aimed at making it much simpler to record any audio you want. We're looking to have a private alpha release in the coming months, so keep your eyes on our weblog for more details. We also hope to ship the new version of Audio Hijack Pro by the end of 2011 as well - it's going to be a busy year!

Finally, though this is our Mac newsletter, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the work our Windows coder Lee Falin is doing. He's working to bring many of Airfoil for Mac's new features over to Windows. While Airfoil for Windows follows its own development schedule, separate from Airfoil for Mac, we hope to have this out in 2011 as well.

Of course, this is all subject to change, but it's our current roadmap. We hope you'll be excited by what we show you in the next year.

7. Closing

That's all for now! We likely won't be emailing for several months or more, but we're hard at work as always. For now, we simply wish you the best in 2011.
