Introduction

Alright then - as always I'm your host Paul Kafasis, CEO/Lackey here at Rogue Amoeba. Read on for several bits of news.

2. Radioshift Touch for iPhone Now Available!

First up, we're delighted to announce the availability of our first iPhone application, Radioshift Touch. With Radioshift Touch, you've got the world of internet radio in the palm of your hand, with access to thousands of audio streams over Wifi, EDGE, and 3G.

With Radioshift Touch, we've focused exclusively on listening to live streams. Radioshift Touch features listings powered by our friends and partners at RadioTime, just like Radioshift for Mac. However, while Radioshift for Mac and Radioshift Touch share a common name and ancestry, they're very much independent of one another, with different functionality and different goals. Further Radioshift Touch's listings are a sub-set of (specifically, MP3 streams only, at this time) those found in Radioshift for Mac, so be sure to use our station browser to see if your favorites are available.

If you want to be able to listen to great live content on the iPhone, whether you're at home or on the road, Radioshift Touch will put thousands of internet radio streams at your fingertips. Check out Radioshift Touch by visiting the Radioshift Touch webpage and purchase it right through the iPhone App Store.

3. Radioshift for Mac Keeps Growing

Back in June, we hired a new programmer Jeff on to our team (Everyone say "Hi Jeff!" - "Hi Jeff!"). Jeff has taken over duties on Radioshift for Mac, and with his help we've released three important Radioshift improvements. We've worked hard to improve stability and reliability across the board.

Radioshift 1.1, released in October, featured several major interface improvements as well as many back-end changes. Version 1.1.1, released the next month in November, included a drastically overhauled MP3 stream playback engine, improving playback of thousands of streams. Finally, last week we released Radioshift 1.1.2, which continued to improve MP3 stream playback, as well as other minor changes.

All of these updates are free for existing Radioshift users, so if you're not using Radioshift 1.1.2, be sure to download it now.

If you haven't tried Radioshift, or haven't used it lately, give the newest version a try. We think it's the best way to listen to and record internet radio on the Mac. Best of all, through the end of 2008, you can save $7 on Radioshift with coupon code LUCKYSEVEN. Just enter that in the store when you buy Radioshift or a Radioshift family pack.

4. Fission 1.6 Adds Ringtone Support

It's been over two years since we first unveiled our lossless audio editor Fission. Since that first release, Fission has received several major updates bringing new functionality. Fission 1.6, a free update for existing Fission users, continues in that fine tradition. With the latest versions of Fission, it's now easy as pie to save an audio clip as an iPhone ringtone.

To start making your own iPhone Ringtones, just download Fission from our site and open up the audio file you want to use. Use the Crop tool to trim the down to just the audio you want (40 seconds or less), then choose 'Save as iPhone Ringtone' from the File menu. Fission will save the file and pass it off to iTunes, ready for you to sync it to your iPhone. That's all there is to it!

If you haven't tried Fission yet, we think you'll be delighted by just how easy it can be to edit your audio. Download it right from our site, then purchase through our store.

5. The New RogueAmoeba.com

In our last piece of news, we unveiled a major overhaul to our web site midway through November. Our old design had served us well for several years, but it was time for a professional overhaul. To that end, we enlisted Dan Cederholm of SimpleBits, who worked with us to overhaul the site. We're very happy with this update. If you haven't been by our site in a while, check it out now:
