Legacy downloads for older versions of MacOS

Users most frequently need a legacy download because they’re on an older version of the Mac’s operating system (MacOS), one which our current release no longer supports.

Apple releases a new version of MacOS each year, and we work hard to support both these annual updates, as well as multiple previous versions of MacOS. Eventually, however, changes to the operating system force us to drop support for older MacOS versions.

When we end support for an older MacOS version, we update our Legacy page with a link to last compatible version of each of our products. This enables folks still running an older version of MacOS to access and use our software.

Legacy downloads of retired applications

Rogue Amoeba opened its virtual doors way back in 2002. Over more than two decades in business, we have occasionally found it necessary to retire products which have seen their utility wan.

Those retired applications remain available for download, in the Legacy page’s Retired Applications section.

Purchase to unlock

All of our products must be unlocked with a license key, and that includes legacy downloads. Purchasing a license key through our store will enable you to unlock the current version, and also entitle you to unlock any legacy downloads you may wish to use.

Many legacy downloads will unlock with a current license key. Certain very old applications may require a secondary license key, which we can provide. If you’ve purchased a product and need additional assistance unlocking it, please get in touch.

Legacy downloads are not fully supported

All legacy downloads are battle-tested, and we generally expect them to perform without issue. However, they are not fully supported the way the current version of the software is.

If you need assistance with a legacy version of Piezo, we still invite you to get in touch with our support team. We’ll do our best to assist you, but our ultimate recommendation may be that you update to a current version of the product.

Older versions of App Store downloads

We do not have a way to provide access to older versions of Piezo purchased through Apple’s Mac App Store. Instead, if you previously purchased Piezo while it was sold through the Mac App Store, you should use these instructions to move to the direct download version with no additional purchase required.
