Using additional third-party Audio Units with Audio Hijack

In addition to its built-in audio effects, Audio Hijack also enables you to apply Audio Unit plugins to audio. This includes both the system-supplied Audio Units included free as part of MacOS, as well as any third-party Audio Unit plugins you've installed on your Mac. Audio Hijack will find Audio Units in two locations:

  • /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
  • ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components

To use an Audio Unit with Audio Hijack, just install it in either of those locations. When a compatible audio effect-type Audio Unit is installed, Audio Hijack will show it in the Audio Unit Effects section of the block library. You can then drag it into your session to adjust audio in your pipeline.
