Audio Hijack 3.3 Brings Updates Big & Small

Audio Hijack 3.3 continues to refine our award-winning recording application.

Boston, MA - After a phenomenal 2015 for Audio Hijack, which included the release of version 3, updates to 3.1 and 3.2, and being named iMore's “Mac App of the Year”, 2016 brings further improvements our well-loved recording application. Today, we're pleased to be shipping Audio Hijack 3.3. This free update includes several important new features, as well as dozens of smaller improvements and fixes to the application.

Audio Hijack's recordings are now more bullet-proof than ever, with improvements to how AAC and Apple Lossless files are recorded. These formats now default to saving as so-called “fragmented” MP4s, which have no processing delay at the end of long recordings and ensure that even a power outage won't cause lost audio. We've always worked incredibly hard to enable our users to rely on Audio Hijack for critical recordings, and this update raises the bar once again.

We've also added a new preference for our most advanced users. The new Latency slider can be used to reduce the time Audio Hijack takes to process audio, which helps in situations where a slight echo is heard while monitoring live. While Audio Hijack does its best to minimize latency by default, advanced users who wish to lower it further are now able to do so. If you're a podcaster who wants to monitor your own audio as well, or a musician using headphones for live monitoring, this is for you!

The last major change in Audio Hijack 3.3 is the addition of full support for capturing audio from the wildly popular team communication tool Slack.

Recording from Slack

Slack now offers a Calls feature to all users, enabling voice calls between members of a team, and Audio Hijack now has full support for recording those calls. Just use the built-in VoIP template in Audio Hijack, set the source to Slack, and click “Record” to save your calls for later reference. Now you can review meeting notes or even switch away from Skype for podcast recording!

In addition to these three large changes, we've also crossed off several dozen smaller items we’ve had since the release of version 3.. These improvements aren’t as eye-catching as a major new feature, but they’re an important part of developing top-notch software nonetheless. From proper Retina art for our Menu Bar Meters to a slew of VoiceOver improvements for visually impaired users, these smaller updates help polish Audio Hijack for the best experience yet.

There's much more to see in Audio Hijack 3.3, and all users are encouraged to download it now. New users can download the free trial right from our site to get started, while existing users can get the latest by selecting “Check for Update” from within Audio Hijack.
