Boston, MA - It's been a long time coming, but today we're absolutely thrilled to introduce Audio Hijack 3 to the world! It's immediately available for Mac OS X 10.9 and up, and it's a huge upgrade.

Hopefully you remember Audio Hijack, but if not, it's our powerful utility for recording any audio on Mac OS X. Audio from individual applications like Safari or Skype, hardware audio devices like microphones and mixers, and even the entire system audio output, can all be saved. Simply put, if it can be heard on Mac OS X, Audio Hijack can record it.

Here's a look at the new Audio Hijack:

For version 3, we thoughtfully examined and considered every aspect of our previous Audio Hijack products. The update incorporates over a decade's worth of experience and feedback to improve the process of recording and enhancing audio.

The most visible change is Audio Hijack's new audio capture interface. The terrific pipeline-style view of exactly how audio flows makes Audio Hijack 3 a snap to learn for veteran and rookie users alike. Different types of Blocks bring in audio from application and hardware sources (Source Blocks), adjust it with audio effects (Effects Blocks), then record it and send it out to speakers (Output Blocks). The fully customizable layout means users can configure the exact pipeline they need, to get the audio results they want.

Beyond the new interface, there's a massive number of new features as well. Here's a quick overview:

Centralized Home Window
The major parts of the app can all be accessed from just three tabs. In the Sessions tab, new Sessions can be made and previously-configured Sessions can be opened for re-use. After recording, saved audio is ready to preview right in the Recordings tab, sorted by Session. And the Schedule tab is the place to go for timed recordings.

Session Templates
For a quick way to begin common tasks, look no further than Session Templates. Everyday jobs are now faster than ever with Audio Hijack.

Multiple Recorders in One Session
Want to record to both the MP3 and AIFF formats at once, or record different sources in sync? Just add multiple Recorder Blocks to get multiple files!

Bulletproof Audio Recording
Every format in Audio Hijack is now bulletproof, so recordings are never lost, even in the event of a computer crash.

Simplified Audio Effects
Harness the power of audio effects without needing a degree in audio engineering. Crank the volume of small laptop speakers way past 100%, or improve the audio quality of movies and music.

Denoise, Declick, Dehum
Clean up dirty audio with custom audio effects, powered by audio tech industry leader iZotope.

Audio Block Presets
Saving presets for an Equalizer is obvious, but how about other settings? With Audio Hijack 3’s new presets, configurations can be saved for almost every Block, for instant use in other Sessions.

Improved Instant On
Capture audio from already-running apps, as well as all System Audio. Users of previous versions will be pleased to see that installation and updates to Instant On no longer require a restart.

Streamlined Recording Options
Audio Hijack offers a half-dozen sensible defaults for recording. Of course, powerful custom recording options are still available as well.

Full-Screen Mode
Remove unwanted distractions to configure a tricky Session or focus on a recording.

FLAC Recording
Audiophiles will be thrilled to learn that Audio Hijack now supports recording directly in lossless FLAC format.

HE-AAC Recording Too
Audio Hijack can now record in the high-efficiency AAC (HE-AAC) format as well.

Massively Improved Accessibility
We know many visually impaired users love Audio Hijack, and we’ve worked hard to make it fully accessible with Apple’s VoiceOver.

Audio Hijack 3 requires Mac OS X 10.9 or higher, with a free fully-functional trial available on the Rogue Amoeba site. While in trial mode, audio quality is degraded after ten minutes of audio capture per session.

New users can unlock the full version for just $49. Also worth noting, because Audio Hijack 3 is the official successor to all of our previous “Audio Hijack” products, discounted upgrade pricing of just $25 is being extended to all customers who've ever purchased a product with “Audio Hijack” in the name.
