Hello, friends. It’s Paul Kafasis here, CEO/Lackey of Rogue Amoeba, purveyors of fine audio tools for the Mac. I’ve got two important pieces of news to share, plus a special December deal. Here we go!
On our blog, I recently wrote about one of the most important stories in Rogue Amoeba’s history. That post, “The Developers Who Came in from the Cold”, details how an existential threat ultimately led to significant backend updates for Airfoil, Audio Hijack, Loopback, Piezo, and SoundSource. These tools are now powered by a new audio capture technology we call ARK, and thanks to ARK, their initial setup can be completed in a matter of seconds.
With ARK, our software now requires no extensions, restarts, and no adjustments to the arcane “System Security Policy” in the Mac’s startup options. It’s easier than ever to give our tools a shot, so why not test drive something new? Use SoundSource to gain per-application audio control, or record anything on your Mac with Audio Hijack. You can learn about each of our powerful audio tools, and download free trials, right on our site.
Our latest updates all offer full compatibility with Apple’s newest OS release, MacOS 15 (Sequoia). We’re pleased to note that Apple has made improvements to the OS’s underlying audio system, and that’s a boon to our apps.
Apple’s initial 15.0 release in September included several valuable bug fixes, and it was quickly followed by additional updates containing further refinements. We made particular note of the 15.1 and 15.2 updates on our blog, as each fixed specific problems our users had encountered.
At present, using the very latest version of the Mac’s operating system (currently, MacOS 15.2) provides the best experience with our products. We still provide full support back to MacOS 11, but we now recommend that all customers who can should upgrade to Sequoia.
In January, we’ll be raising our prices for the first time in several years. Of course, since we don’t have subscriptions, this change will only impact new purchases. Still, that does mean that this is a good time to pick up anything you’re considering, before the price goes up.
