Audio Hijack Pro IconToday, we've got a new version of Audio Hijack Pro available for all users. This update fixes several bugs on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) as well as AAC recording issues caused by QuickTime 7.3 on Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger).

On Leopard, we're still working to finish the Instant Hijack functionality which enables the capture of audio from already-running applications. On Tiger, however, Audio Hijack Pro 2.8 Preview 2 is feature complete with plenty of updates and new features over 2.7.3.

We'll have an Audio Hijack Pro 2.8 final release, with Instant Hijack working on both Tiger and Leopard in the near future, but Preview 2 is now recommended for all users on OS X 10.4.0 through 10.5.1. Head over to the Audio Hijack Pro page to download it now.

I want to express my disappointment that RA has decided to shut down their discussion pages. In my opinion it makes it appear that they don't want to deal with negative comments that appear concerning their products, especially, it seems to me, their most recent, RADIOSHIFT.

I hope Paul will consider re-instating this area of RA's website. I have many individual and small business applications, and all of them have a discussion board. Isolation is not an answer.

I realize this is not a relevant comment to the above post, but this seems to be the only way to publicly express my frustrations.

Please open up the message boards again!!

As was noted at the time when we took our forums offline, the issue was one of time and optimization. The forums were originally put up to allow us to chat with users, and get users talking to one another.

Now, we use this blog to post all manner of interesting bits that we'd originally shared via the forums. As far as a user to user community, it never really happened. Unfortunate, but true.

Worse, far too often support requests were posted there, which then had to be redirected over to our rapid and responsive email support system. This was a waste of time for those looking for answers, and for us. Checking the forums became an exercise in finding the posts where users were asking support questions, and then moving them over to email - again, time wasted on all ends.

We've heard from a very small number of users who'd like to see the forums back, but at this time we have no plans for that. We handle any and all issues that come our way through our support system, free of charge. We're not looking for "isolation", just efficiency.

And you're correct, this isn't the place for this. If you have further concerns, please contact us directly and we can discuss it.

I'm curious about the Instant Hijack support, especially in light of all the problems the presence of APE caused for many Leopard updaters. Will Instant Hijack still depend on APE, or are you guys rewriting this function from scratch to not use APE?

In case you remember I asked to be able to have something I chose to 'move to the trash' ('Recording Bin') go there without asking 'Are you sure?', and in case you did it because of my request...THANKS! ;-)

Just noticed this in the case of 2.8p2, boy am I happy (I sometimes wind up with a couple of 'false starts' and that message was most annoying).

Also look forward to seeing what this 'Megamix' thing is all about. Thanks and keep up the good fight.
