Volume 16, Issue 2 • December 8th, 2018

Hello, friend of Rogue Amoeba! Today, we’ve got news on major updates to several of our products, as well as a discount for our loyal readers.

Loopback 2 Simplifies Audio Routing

Loopback is a powerful tool to control how audio flows between apps and devices on your Mac. It does the seemingly impossible for podcasters who want to play music via Skype, gamers looking to improve the quality of their screen recordings, and anyone else working with audio. Loopback brings the power of a high-end mixing board right inside your Mac.

Last week, we released the brand-new Loopback 2. Its easy-to-use wire-based interface makes it simpler than ever to pass sound directly between audio apps. If you’re new to Loopback, visit our site to learn more.

If you already know Loopback, our What’s New in Loopback 2 page will tell you all about the new version. Owners of Loopback 1 are eligible  for a heavily discounted upgrade to version 2.

Broadcast Audio with Audio Hijack 3.5

Audio Hijack, our popular audio recorder, has a new power: broadcasting! In early 2018, we made the difficult decision to retire our venerable Nicecast streaming tool. However, feedback from users made it clear that many still needed to broadcast audio. To satisfy this need, we worked hard to build MP3 and AAC streaming capabilities into Audio Hijack 3.5. Now, Audio Hijack is the best broadcasting tool for the Mac, and Nicecast users can even migrate with a substantial discount through the end of the year.

Many additional updates came to our flagship recording app in recent months, including support for new VoIP apps, improvements for recording from Spotify, and more. If you need to record any audio you hear on your Mac, Audio Hijack is always ready to assist.

Sonos and HomePod Support in Airfoil

Thanks to recent updates, our home audio streamer Airfoil for Mac is more powerful than ever. Back in February, we added support for streaming audio to Apple’s HomePod smart speaker. A few months later, we made it possible to stream to Sonos’s new AirPlay-compatible hardware as well.

Airfoil now works with more AirPlay, Bluetooth, and Chromecast devices than ever, so update to the latest via the “Check for Update” option in the Airfoil menu. If you own an older version, you can still upgrade to Airfoil 5.

Airfoil sales jump in December, as folks use it to stream music at home and office parties. Hosting a gathering yourself? Use Airfoil to play your music everywhere, and save with the coupon at the bottom of this email.

Farrago Adds MIDI and More

At the beginning of the year, we unveiled our new soundboard app for Mac, Farrago. Thousands of podcasters, theater techs, and more now have an easy way to play sound bites, music clips, and audio effects.

Farrago has already had two major updates. In April, Farrago 1.1 brought Undo support, a Dark theme, and more. Farrago 1.2 arrived in July, and featured support for full MIDI control. We’ve got lots more planned for the future as well, so check out Farrago, the best soundboard app for Mac.
