Hi there, it's Rogue Amoeba CEO/Lackey Paul Kafasis. We've got one of our biggest releases ever to talk about, as well as some major updates to come, so let's get to it!

Audio Hijack 3 Has Arrived

Late last month we released an entirely new Audio Hijack, and we'd love to show it to you. This is Audio Hijack 3!

If you're on this list, you likely know that Audio Hijack is our powerful utility for recording any audio on Mac OS X. You can use it to save audio from individual applications like Safari or Skype, hardware audio devices like microphones or mixers, and even the entire system audio output. If you can hear it on your Mac, Audio Hijack can record it.

For version 3, we thoughtfully examined and considered every aspect of our previous Audio Hijack products. The update incorporates over a decade's worth of experience and feedback to improve the process of recording and enhancing audio.

The most visible change is Audio Hijack's new interface. Its pipeline-style view shows exactly how audio flows and makes Audio Hijack 3 a snap to learn. Different types of Blocks bring in audio from application and hardware sources, adjust it with audio effects, then record it and send it out to speakers. The fully customizable layout means you can configure the exact pipeline you need, to get the audio results you want.

There's so much more to tell, but it won't all fit here. Head over to the blog post for the release or just download the free trial and take off from there.

Now, let's see if I can answer some of your most likely questions!

2014: A YEAR IN REVIEW

2014 In Review

It may be February, but it's never too late for 2014: A Year In Review. Hey, it's five days earlier than last year's review! Last year was rather quiet for Rogue Amoeba, as we were hard at work on the aforementioned Audio Hijack 3, along with several major updates yet to come. Nevertheless, we did have some highlights.

In March, we exhibited at Macworld in San Francisco. We were able to meet with hundreds of customers like you, and had a great time as always. Alas, the Expo is now on “hiatus”, with no further events planned. We'll miss it and we were glad to be a small part of its three decade run.

We released Airfoil Remote 4 in May, bringing compatibility with Airfoil for Windows, and improved functionality with Airfoil for Mac. If you use Airfoil and you've got an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, Airfoil Remote is a great companion!

Before Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) shipped in October, Apple provided a public beta. We were very pleased to have compatible updates available for the new OS even before its official release! Ensure you have our latest versions by choosing “Check for Update” right in the app. Of course, you can also download from rogueamoeba.com.

At the end of the year, we celebrated two special events. First, our designer Christa reached her five year anniversary with Rogue Amoeba, and was properly feted. Then, the founders of Rogue Amoeba were honored to be inducted into iMore's Hall of Fame.

Quieter than usual, perhaps, but not a bad year!

COMING IN 2015

What we're really looking forward to is 2015. Audio Hijack 3 has already started the new year off with a bang, but there's more to come! We've got a good roadmap for Audio Hijack 3.1 and beyond, so be sure to keep up-to-date with the latest versions there.

Coming in 2015

Meanwhile, if you use Airfoil on either Mac or Windows, you'll definitely want to keep your eyes peeled. At this moment, as you read this, we're working on some major new features you can expect to see this year! Mac users with Bluetooth audio devices like speakers and headphones are going to be particularly excited. Stay tuned!

Coming in 2015

We're also working on an entirely new product to simplify some complex audio needs. It's called Loopback, and it's going to give power users incredible control over audio routing between applications on their Macs. We can't say more yet, but we know some of our pro users are absolutely going to love this one. More to come soon!
